This is one of the ornaments I made to share with kids while working on Substitute Teacher assignments for CCSD in Las Vegas this year. K-5 really like the ABCs Art Brain Breaks which makes sense since they're learning the alphabet, the idea of characters, settings, plots, and storylines but what's been surprising is how much the older kids and adults like them!

I put this Swallowtail Butterfly holiday ornament together as an example of stuff you could make using my animal and insect illustrations. The kids loved them and wanted to make a lot of them.

This one took maybe 10 minutes total to put together. I just cut the two butterflies out that are on the same page, taped the top and bottom together , did a hole punch in the middle, put a hole cover around it, and strung it with embroidery thread with a few broken necklace beads on it.

It's so fast and simple but kids really get into it.

They don't only want them for the holidays, they want to decorate their rooms year-round, put them on their backpacks, wear them as jewelry at school, it's really cute.

I consider my ABCs Alligators to Zebra Art Brain Break as an Accessory the more I think about it because you can turn this paper print out into all sorts of this extra bits to use in fun ways.
