This is axolotl coloring project was a group effort by about 7-8 3rd graders who worked toward earning an art lesson by me on how to use my drawing program, on my iPad, using my ABCs animal character, "A is for Axolotl", where each student had the same set of instructions I gave all of them at the same time.
They knew we only had enough time for each student to spend 5 minutes drawing on their own on the iPad, so they decided to pick one of my images to color and let each person color a separate layer on it, and create a group image with the time they had.
I loved watching how kind and supportive they were of each other, rooting each person on as they chose various brush thicknesses and colors, or words to add to the drawing.
I can definitely see kids who like using iPads, and have one that accessible to them, enjoying my ABCs Alligators to Zebras alphabet activity book without printing out the paper version.
I really do like the paper versions, although, I draw all of my images directly on the iPad so I get how satisfying that feeling is too. The key is always - MAKE MORE ART EVERY DAY!
