Art Projects for Pre-K Autism Program for 3-5 yr olds Preparing for Kindergarten, Z is for Zebra Coloring, Las Vegas, NV November 2025

This artist was in a Pre-K Early Childhood Autism program where I was on assignment as a Substitute Teacher in November 2025. He was so focused on the zebras throughout the majority of the day.

He wanted the black and white zebras to have all the colors in the rainbow and have every crayon add to the final piece.

By the end both zebras were colored in and all of the crayons in the classroom contributed to the final results.

He was happy, relaxed, and in control of the outcome and his process and it was fun to sit next to him as the other kids continued pulling up chairs to start their own coloring projects throughout the day.

For Pre-K age kids, I must say these folks we very focused for long periods of time and started breaking things down into organized cadence for when to stop and have snacks, take bathroom breaks, and get up and stretch their legs before getting back to work o their art projects.

I recommend having a stack printed out nearby and let kids choose one page at a time to focus on for however long your window of time happens to be.

They enjoy being in their own world working through colors and patterns, and this is a great toolset for Substitute Teachers.
