I used my Art Break ABCs Alligators to Zebras with a class of 2nd graders who had a Rain Day and needed to stay inside all day and out of the rain.
If you've never taught or been a Substitute Teacher it's a little difficult to explain what a Rain Day, all day inside, could look like.
For us, it was a lot of fun because we had plenty of animals and insects to color, cut and paste, and turn into puppets, ornaments, and jewelry throughout the day and after assigned work was completed.
The structure I put around using the Art Break pages is only the amount of time, the types of activities we do at the same time, like coloring first, then cutting pasting, then turning the images into other objects, cleaning up, and packing up.
I find that when the kids understand they really get to determine the outcome of their own art projects they are very excited to have that much creative control and the fact they get to take their art with them is a pretty big deal.
I highly recommend using the ABCs 26- animal pack or the one I'm about to release which includes 85 animals and insects as some of the High School students gave me "constructive criticism" and told me 26 animals and insects isn't enough.
Try them out by buying my Digital Download of ABCs Alligators to Zebras and @ me on socials so I can see what you're all doing with the book so I can share it back out to folks.
Happy Holidays 2025!
